SUMMARY:Alfonso Borragán Presents :: Ötzi
DESCRIPTION:Ötzi is a banquet of transient signs. A ritualistic dinner\, an event that explores diverse interpretations of ingestion and cultural absorption. Named after the oldest known european mummy\, who was found to have carbon tattoos on his body\, Ötzi deals with layers of history and digestion of signs. \nInked drawings articulate historical markings and function as archives of remembrance. In Ötzi\, the trace appears through the medium of living bodies. By the consumption of animals and vegetables tattooed with images\, through the material disappearance and transformation of flesh structures that are surfaces of inscription\, a new ritual is enacted. A ritual of ingestion through which assimilation gives birth to newly generated meanings\, bringing these marks back to their fragile and ephemeral status. \nDiners are immersed in an unprecedented eating experience\, through tattooed food\, performance\, ink\, darkness and a cabinet of curiosities. \nA delicious and unique four course meal. Dishes never seen before\, a tailored menu not easy to forget. \nA project by Alfonso Borragán and Silvio Palladino. \nIn collaboration with: chef Ian Ballantyne/Cult Events\, designers Olivia Altaras and Camilla French\, Tattoo artist Nikole Lowe/Good Times Tattoo. \n  \nÖtzi was in the Seven of the best pop-ups happening this week in London shortlist by Time Out Blog. \n  \n[easyrotator]erc_9_1405424090[/easyrotator]

SUMMARY:Tinata Presents: Reclaim!
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to see your lover thrown away in a bin just because his eyebrows are slightly bigger than “average”? \nTINATA Presents: Reclaim! \nThis month Tinata wanted to tell you the story about how much delicious food goes wasted in UK and around the world every day. SUMMARY:Café Prèsque Presents: A Meal of Style
DESCRIPTION:Café Prèsque Presents: A Meal of Style \n“We present\, for your dining pleasure\, a meal of style. \nHaving devised a collection of the most garish and aesthetically perplexing dishes imaginable\, we seek to dazzle you with some of the most bizarre and mysterious forms of food presentation known to mankind. Taking inspiration from the once fashionable arts of ambiguous garnishing\, incessant piping\, and ostentatious food-dressing\, we have designed a meal that goes all out. ‘It’s too much!’ we hear you cry. And indeed\, perhaps we needn’t have moulded that fois gras into a figure of Michelangelo’s David\, or turned that melon into a bunch of grapes. But let us forget necessity for a moment. Let us for once take delight in the flamboyance of yesteryears\, in the extravagance of kings! \nPlease do not fear\, oh gracious diner. Beneath the kitsch and semi-unpalatable exterior lies a discrete and unprecedented handling of flavour that only a master chef de cuisine could concoct\, with unforeseen flavours belying even the most familiar of dishes.” \nThe meal can be vegetarian \nCurated and produced by: Silvio Palladino and Sorcha-Mae Stott-Strzala \n// \nPictures from the event \n[easyrotator]erc_86_1347635727[/easyrotator]

SUMMARY:Nora Silva presents: Umami
DESCRIPTION:Nora Silva presents: Umami \n– “Do you know your wife?\n– My wife?\n– Do you know your wife well enough?\n– Better than myself.\n\n– Well\, she is a man.” \n\nWe were always told there were four in the mouth. \nWell\, there are five. \nIt seems that we need some scientific prove with diagrams in different colours\, to finally be convinced that yes\, it is here. After all the numbers\, dates and facts\, our tongues have been expanded somehow. \nFor every mouth that eats\, Umami. \nCurated by: Silvio Palladino and Sorcha-Mae Stott-Strzala \nProduced by: Silvio Palladino \n// \n\n\n– 29.6.12_Umami was featured on the Evening Standard Magazine \nSOLD OUT \nPictures from the event: \n[easyrotator]erc_25_1341844465[/easyrotator]

SUMMARY:Amy Godfrey Presents: Hand Me Down
DESCRIPTION:Amy Godfrey presents: Hand Me Down. \nPassed on\, leaving a trace of each hand\, stained and marked by previous efforts\, a plastic bag full of old cookery books as an inheritance. Hand Me Down explores the way that cooking is sedimented in bodies and minds by repeated doing\, recipes are alive in our heads and hands. Trapped in a book or beamed from a screen\, can someone teach us to cook without a shared experience\, without being there to marshal and cajole us? Foodways that are lost through the industrialisation of production and cuisine remain only as long as their keepers are alive. Hand Me Down is on a mission to preserve\, to capture in herself\, in hands and head\, some disappearing worlds. \nEvery experience laid down in the body like so many layers of sand\, every memory held in the body\, dormant until ignited by a sudden familiar smell… Come join us for a meal of remembrances! Hand Me Down is a paean to meals gone by – taste some memories and share the scents and flavours of your own in a mnemonic dinner. You are invited to bring one edible item or one ingredient that tells a story of a past moment for you. Take a seat\, close your eyes and open your senses – stir up the sedimented secrets that sleep in your limbs and collapse the past into the present on a plate. \nCurated and produced by: Silvio Palladino and Sorcha-Mae Stott-Strzala \n  \n// \n– 6.6.12_Hand Me Down was featured on Le Cool London magazine \nSOLD OUT \nPictures from the event: \n[easyrotator]erc_25_1339498683[/easyrotator]

SUMMARY:Spork Club Presents: At the Table
DESCRIPTION:Spork Club presents: At the Table \nAt this table we talk. At this table we listen. \nAt the table is an exploration of the mythical family dinner and the real one you may or may not have grown up with. It’s about how we communicate with strangers\, or with those who know us most intimately…or is there really any difference between the two? It’s about how we craft who we are—consciously or unconsciously—for friends and family and facebook and coworkers and the person sitting next to us on the tube. \nThe meal was vegetarian. \nCurated and produced by: Silvio Palladino and Sorcha-Mae Stott-Strzala \n// \n– At The Table was May’s Special Event for Whitechapel Gallery First Thursdays – \nSOLD OUT \nPictures from the event: \n[easyrotator]erc_25_1337445934[/easyrotator]

SUMMARY:The Gut Club Presents: The Primary Palate
DESCRIPTION:A talk and performance by The Gut Club exploring “The Primary Palate“ \nUsing foraged plants\, seasonal home grown vegetables and wild meats The Gut Club cooked on an open fire in an effort to reproduce a meal available 20\,000 years ago. With none\, or little salt\, or oil\, or spices and herbs not native to the island The Gut Club invited  the participants to taste the primal palate. \nThe Gut Club offered a brief talk at each stage of the performance\, making the fire\, preparing and butchering game and plants and cooking. A longer talk and discussion covering the enteric nervous system\, or gut brain\, concluded the evening. \nA day of foraging around Stroud in Gloucestershire was also available for those who were interested. \nCurated and produced by: Silvio Palladino and Sorcha-Mae Stott-Strzala \n// \n– The Primary Palate was nominated Special Event of the month by Whitechapel Gallery’s First Thursdays – \nSOLD OUT \nPictures from the event: \n[easyrotator]erc_89_1334057292[/easyrotator]
